The Color Changing Gemstone:

A color-changing gem with an elevated status

Alexandrite’s pure colors and ability to change from greenish blue to reddish-purple in different lighting elevated its status as one of the most alluring gemstones ever. Mark Henry Alexandrite is naturally mined exclusively in South East Brazil. New sources of alexandrite include Sri Lanka, India, and Africa but it is said these Brazilian stones are superior. In order to maintain high quality and full transparency in its supply chain, Mark Henry brings you only the purest natural alexandrite in partnership with a family-owned mine.

Rarity that Shocks:

Mark Henry hand-picks only the purest 10% of Brazilian alexandrite to be set in jewelry, making each color-changing gemstone a true rarity.

We hand-select each alexandrite with care and judgement to ensure each gemstone exhibits an excellent color change and only limited inclusions. Roughly 1,000 carats of alexandrite jewelry are used in our jewelry each year. For comparison, 133,000,000 carats of rough diamonds are mined annually.

The Significance:

Alexandrite is the birthstone for those born in June and is used as the gem to commemorate a 45th anniversary.

Crystal healing has only grown in commonality over the years, and alexandrites are no exception to this phenomenon. The energy released from alexandrite calls for purification and it is said that the gem increases self-esteem. Alexandrite can promote positive meditation practices, grounding your experience and centering your awareness of breath and mindfulness.

Caring for an Alexandrite:

How to take care of Mark Henry’s alexandrite jewelry.

Natural alexandrite ranks 8.5 out of 10 on the Mohs scale of hardness and is considered the third-hardest frequently encountered natural gemstone. Despite its rarity, this makes it a great choice for fine jewelry subject to daily wear. To wash your gemstone, use a mild soap and warm water to gently wash the alexandrite and dry thoroughly with a lint-free cloth. We recommend washing it every six months
